Color is all around us. But how often do we think of its impact in our everyday life, outside of say, design or fashion? At SENGA interior design, we do not shy away from using color. We believe in the power of color and place a heavy importance on choosing a cohesive palette in every design.
Embracing new color schemes throughout your home, adding an accent wall, or selecting colorful accent pieces are perfect ways to incorporate color in the home. Color has the ability to transform a space, bringing out the character of the home and the homeowners style.
Here are my top three reasons why incorporating color into any design is important.
Feature Architectural Aspects
Incorporating color into the natural design of a space provides interior designers a medium to enhance key elements of a room’s character. Once a color scheme is chosen, unique paint colors can enhance molding or trim within a space.
If you want to play with the scale of your room, color is the perfect way to open a small space by choosing a light and airy tone. Additionally, you can transform a long room by adding a dark accent wall to create the illusion of a shorter space.
Choosing color schemes and adding pops of color to your home’s natural features is an ideal way to showcase the original character of your home.
Bring the Outside In
Using a color scheme to create tranquil spaces is one of my favorite tips. Whether you are searching for cool blue tones reminiscent of the ocean, or brilliant greens found in the redwood forests, color can bring your favorite outdoor elements inside.
Mirroring your ideal outdoor escape within your home using paint color or accent pieces will personalize your space and create your own personal oasis
Color all Year Long
Fall brings us the brilliant orange and gold tones of aspen leaves, while bold reds and greens are prominent during the holiday season and winter fills us with soft white and off white hues.
Color is associates with our seasons and holidays all year long. Choosing colorful accessories that can be easily swapped out for holiday parties, or seasonal changes is a great way to add life to your space throughout the year.
At SENGA interior design, we are thrilled to ring in the New Year with new ideas for interior decorating, home remodels, and more.
Starting with color, we are excited to share with you in this 3-part Color Trends Series the history of Pantone’s Color of the Year in part 2. Finally, in part 3 we will explore the 2016 Color of the Year and why 2016’s choice is so special.
